Hiking tours

In and around Benediktbeuern you will find many possibilities to go on beautiful hikes on the flat moorland as well as to the top of the mountains. Here are a few suggestions:

Around the monastery
2 km, approx. 30 min., flat path, little shadow
Follow the Spatzenpointweg at the eastern side of the monastery along the train tracks in a southerly direction. At the end of the monastery's wall turn right into the moor. A few meters after the small car park turn right and take the "butterfly path" to the biotopes. At the biotopes' exit turn right back to the monastery.

Scenic loop hike (Moosrundweg 1) at Loisach-Kochelsee-Moor
11 km, approx. 3 - 3 1/2 hrs., flat path, little shadow
At the monastery's car park follow the green signs "Moosrundweg 1" in a westerly direction. Pass the biotopes,  remain on the right part of the path until you reach the bird watching hut. Turn right and after about 200 m turn left. At the Loisach river turn left and follow the river until you reach the bridge. Turn left and you can already see the monastery's steeples. After 2.5 km you will reach the train track. Turn left to the monastery.

Benediktenwand (1801 m)
4 - 4 1/2 hrs. one-way!
At the Alpenwarmbad take the gravel road AV 455 along the forest nature trail to Kohlstatt alp (closed). After a short walk leave the gravel road, turn left and hike along the Schmiedlaine valley to Eibelsfleck alp (closed). Cross the meadow and you will reach a serpentine path. At the end of this path you will come to the Tutzinger Hut (open during the summer season and Christmas/New Year). From there you can either take the eastern or the western route. The steep eastern route is only suited for experienced hikers who lack a fear of heights. The western route is easier to walk. Enjoy an unforgettable panoramic view at the top. For the way back take the western route.
